Old San Juan in Lancaster, PA

Walking around downtown Lancaster, and looking for a dinner place, we came upon Old San Juan, a Nicaraguan restaurant. Lancaster is known for welcoming immigrants and refugees, so there are many ethic food options.

The menu has one vegan appetizer and two vegan entrees, so we got one of each. Kiwi guacamole and chips stared our meal.

The chips seemed fresh out of the fryer; pillowy and warm.

Next we shared the Isla Verde Bowl and a Vegetarian Delight with red beans, white rice, and sweet plantains. Both are gluten free!

The bowl was mostly white rice, but was tasty. The veggies on the delight were overcooked and poorly spiced. The plantains and red beans were delicious.

Hubby also got two drinks and said they were worth four cupcakes.

Old San Juan gets two out of five vegan cupcakes. I will not likely return. But our waitress was kind and we didn’t have to wait long, which was a bonus.
