Before coming to Amsterdam I kept reading that we needed to check out the Vegan Junk Food Bar. We originally had a vegan food tour planned during our visit that started at this restaurant. The tour got canceled, but I wanted to visit nonetheless.
Vegan Junk Food Bar goes over the top on presentation. Unique colors of breads and dressings frame traditional junk food like burgers and fries. I had no idea!
We were hungry so it took a bit to narrow down what we wanted to try. Finally we decided on the Iconic Rainbow Fries, Daddy Mc Chik’n, Royal Beastie, and Chik’n Caesar.
Although pretty to look at and fun to read the descriptions of each dish, we were unimpressed with the flavors and textures. The croutons on the salad were so hard we were worried we would chip a tooth trying to eat them. Hubby was so unhappy with his Royal Beastie that he wouldn’t eat it.
The space is fun and our server was kind.
Hubby wants to give Vegan Junk Good Bar one vegan cupcake, but I want to give it two out of five. I had fun eating the pink and blue bun of my Chik’n sandwich, even if not especially fluffy and a bit bitter from the food coloring. This is a fun place to visit, but don’t visit with high hopes for a tasty meal.
