A new vegan restaurant recently opened in Philly. Exciting! Of course I had to check it out.
Nourish is on South Street and 7th. The open floorplan and green divider invite people into this plant based cafe and juicebar. The menu is taped to the entrance and available at the counter where you order. It took me a moment to figure out what I wanted. I finally decided on the Vegan Fried Chicken Platter and The Garden of Life smoothie.
The “chicken” is made with mushrooms and perfectly crispy. More crispy than I remember experiencing with fried chicken. The greens and mac n cheese were great compliments. The smoothie was delicious, but I could taste the pea protein. Not my favorite flavor, but I recognize most people don’t have the same aversion.
I will absolutely return to Nourish. The chicken platter is currently their most popular dish. More seating is being planned and I sat in the window on a stool with my food on the sill.
Nourish gets four out of five vegan cupcakes. The people were very nice, the space calm and clean, and the food delicious.
