Last week I mentioned that a trip to Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s new restaurant, Modern Love, was in my future. Yep, I got to go and am hear to share all about it.

The space is stunning. I had been to the restaurant that was in the space previously. I liked it, but Isa has spent a lot of time turning this place into something special.

Stenciled patterns, lux walpaper, and stone floors have transformed the space.

Enough about the space, I know you want to hear about the food! It did not disappoint. I attended a tasting, which means I got about one or two bites of several dishes. We started with corn milk.

It was flavored with a spicy oil and tiny flowers. It was spicy and tasty. This was before I even sat down.

After sitting, a hummus plate with various seasonal veggies showed up.

The hummus was mild and really let the veggies shine. No one even water the bread because the veggies were so tasty.

Next came jalapeno corn cakes. Spicy and sweet at the same time. I wanted more than one.

We had water as soon as we sat down, but then rosemary lemon aid showed up. As I mentioned on Twitter about this, it was delicious and refreshing.

My favorite part of the tasting came next. This amazing salad with “bacon” tempe. I will absolutely be ordering this when I get to sit down for an actual meal in a couple weeks.

Everyone at my table was fighting over the last bite of this.

The first entrée arrived once we finished the salad. Mac and cheese with kale, spicy cauliflower, and cashew crusted tofu.

The mac and cheese was mild, which really contrasted with the spicy cauliflower. A very different approach to vegan mac and cheese.

The second entrée was a root vegetable mash with seitan and mushroom gravy. The mash was tart with the sweet mushrooms. Everyone at my table really loved this too.

The end was a peach pie with ginger ice cream on top. Very tasty and hubby and I got to share a whole piece.

I truly enjoyed my first visit to Isa’s restaurant and highly encourage everyone to visit and enjoy for themselves. I felt like no detail was ignored in the space and the food was yummers.
