We came across Soul Kitchen while planning our trip to Turin, Italy. A fully vegan fancy restaurant! Always wanting to support vegan establishments and enjoy delicious food, we made a reservation with excitement.
I reserved us with the prix fixe menu so as not to have to think about what to order. I also shared how I was gluten-free and my other allergies. They were ready.
Goodness, we really had no idea what we were in for. We started with a series of amuse bouche bites.

I can’t remember most of the things we had, but it was all delicious. Hubby loved the savory canolli most, and I liked the chickpea cheese most. Hubby wanted the local olive to be pitted and stuffed with something.

We were next outfitted with two trays of fresh bread to accompany our meal. My tray was gluten-free. Hubby ate all his bread, but I was not able to. So many delicious things to enjoy!

Next was a golden beet gazpacho with cream on top. Oh my goodness, I enjoyed this so much.

Roasted fennel with edamame pate was next. It was roasted to a buttery, melt in my mouth, texture that was wonderful.

A pea risotto with fermented red rice and fermented cream. It received a distilled spray upon serving. Mmm…

Gluten-free pasta with carrot sauce. This was very interesting. It started bitter, moved to sweet, and ended bitter. Just like eating carrots! Such an interesting experience. I didn’t like it the first bite and then the second bite was very enjoyable.

This was the most controversial dish of the evening. Watermelon with fishy overtones. Another experience! The texture of the watermelon was so unusual for us and paired with capers, pickles, seaweed, and black truffle. Hubby didn’t like it. It was another dish I had to have a second bite before I enjoyed it. I ate Hubby’s portion.

To cleanse our palettes for dessert, we each got a lime ravioli. Lime gel wrapped around crunchy lime something. Very interesting! Hubby didn’t like it, but I thought it was such fun. Another unusual texture moment that was such fun.

Various strawberry bites with cheesecake and meringue was next. The long roll-like thing was my favorite. A local dish of strawberry ice cream.

The meal closed with petit fours. Raspberry jell topped with very dark chocolate and two local chocolates. Turin is known for its chocolate. The jelly was super sweet and benefited from the dark chocolate. Such an incredible pair.
The entire meal was an adventure in taste, texture, smells, and exceptional service. I was so pleased. When in Turin, this is absolutely a place to enjoy. Five out of five cupcakes.
