Sunflower Bakehouse in Nashville

All vegan and gluten-free? What is this heaven you describe?

I recently visited Nashville, Tennessee and got to catch up with a dear friend. We have known one another since kindergarten! This is pre-Facebook, ya’ll.

My friend said there was a good vegan restaurant near our next stop and suggested we meet there. Sounds good to me. And then I arrived. Looking at the desserts, I asked which were gluten-free. All of them. Woo hoo!

It took a bit, but I finally decided to order the Southwest Sweet Potato salad, a Tribble Berry Banana smoothie, and an Oreo Cheesecake Parfait. Hubby picked out the Kale Cesar, a Tomato Basil Bake, a Sunflower Paradise smoothie, and a lemon scone. My friend picked out the Buffalo Chickpea salad.

Yummers! The salads were excellent. The bake would have benefited from more flavor, but it was good. The smoothies were good, too. The desserts I found very sweet. But they had good consistency and lacked the bitter aftertaste gluten-free goods can have.

The space is open and easy to navigate. After ordering, you are provided a number to take to the table of your choice, and they bring your order as it is ready.

I really enjoyed this meal and the staff was so patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. Sunflower Bakehouse gets three vegan cupcakes out of five. I would absolutely return and hope to soon.
