Taste of India in Harrisonburg, Virginia

Driving across the country lands one in interesting towns. One night landed us in Harrisonburg, Virginia and looking for dinner.

What did we do before cell phones that do everything well except make phone calls? I’m exaggerating, but my point is made. Once again, my phone helped me find a good place for dinner.

Within walking distance of our hotel was Taste of India with decent reviews. We went for an adventure and knew right away we were on the South, no sidewalks. Why are sidewalks a luxury in so many places? It’s a real public health threat.

Taste of India is located in a strip mall and fairly easy to find. The space is tastefully decorated and filled with attentive staff.

Even better? The menu is clearly labeled with vegan options. Score!

To start, I picked out vegetable pakoras, of course. Our entrees were Aloo Palak and Vegetable Patia. We had never had Patia, a sweeter dish made with mango.

The pakora tasted like salty onions, not my favorite. Both entrees were delicious, and we devoured them. Hubby also got a glass of red wine that he said was not good.

Taste of India gets three out of five vegan cupcakes. Wonderful staff and good food. I would eat here again.
