Holy Cow was mentioned several places as a restaurant we needed to try in Edinburgh. I was initially hesitant due to half the menu focused on burgers. However, I later read that they were great with gluten-free desires. Perfect! A trek was made.
Located in a basement, Holy Cow is adorable. Even the teacups focus on celebrating animals.

We noticed a dessert case upon entering but purposely waited until after our meal to decide if we had room. We drooled at the menu and finally settled on the Vietnamese Tofu Muu Burger on gluten-free bread for me and the Nori Fish Muu Burger with oregano chips for Hubby.

We both really enjoyed our burgers. What fun flavor combinations. Though Hubby was unimpressed with the oregano chips. Just stick with the plain ones.
Having such good luck with the burgers and room for more food, I ordered us a slice of the gluten-free Victoria Sponge. I couldn’t wait to try this traditional English dessert. Well, wait is exactly what happened. We waited at least 30 minutes for a slice of cake that was already made. Luckily, it was delicious. Light sponge cake layers with jam and light icing. Not at all too sweet, and the berries on top were perfectly ripe. Hubby felt the sponge was a stale.

A few tables arrived at the same time. I guess there is no plan for supporting the server, and no one came by to ask if we were okay waiting so long for a slice of cake. A real letdown.
Holy Cow gets two of five cupcakes. The food is good, I would go back for the food, but the service needs support or a plan.
