V Marks The Shop has been an online and shop up staple in NYC and Philly for several years. Brining delicious convenience foods to hungry vegans. Little did we know they would open a convenience store in South Philly!!
This is one of my favorite places in Philly and I got to be part of their soft and grand openings. I helped make signs and build furniture!
The place is wonderful with all kinds of difficult to find vegan fare.
There are some healthy options like fresh fruit, but the vegan junk food is the real winner. Local bakeries, restaurants, and even non-food vegan local businesses have items for sale, as well as just plain old difficult to get brands like Hebavorious Butcher.
In addition to special events, every Saturday is “Sumthin’ Saturday” when something fun will happen about noon. Maybe a local restaurant will offer something fun or a local entrepreneur will have vegan items to taste or try and sell, like local cheese or local soap. Sometimes it is arts and crafts or board games. It’s always sumthin’!
And the owners are just wonderful people who adore Philly. They moved here from NYC, like me! Carlo will talk with everyone and make you feel so welcome you want to buy everything. Carmella will give you the best smile and make sure you get what you are looking for. They also organize the Philly Vegan Pop Flea with pop up markets all over town throughout the year.
When in Philly, V Marks The Shop is a MUST visit. It is easy to reach via the subway, so there are no excuses. Except that maybe you are too full from eating all the yummy food in this city that thinking about more is not pleasant.
